Examiner: Taylor Lautner Flexes His Action Hero Muscles for ‘Abduction’

At Sunday’s 2011 Teen Choice Awards, Taylor Lautner spent some time promoting his upcoming film, “Abduction,” the thriller filmed in Pittsburgh during summer 2010. Lautner takes his “action hero” role seriously, and his recent comments revealed Lautner performed many of his own stunts.
In a red-carpet interview with the Los Angeles Times, Lautner gave fans a preview of the type of the action they will see as he plays Nathan Harper.
“I slide down this huge glass awning to an escalator, and I actually did that all myself,” Lautner told interviewers before Teen Choice Awards, where the 19-year old won choice male actor – sci fi/fantasy for “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse.”
Lautner downplayed the dangers of doing his own stunt work, referring to any injuries as “bumps and bruises.”
“The insurance company was freaking out the whole movie because every single day I’d show up and the question would be, ‘I’m doing all my stunts, right?’ And 99% of the time, the answer was ‘yes,’ which was great. But, yeah, I got a few bruises. But nothing too bad.”
But Director John Singleton suggests Lautner has earned his status as a leading action hero, as well as those bruises. Singleton previously told the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette the actor was “a kick-ass dude” in the role.
