Australia’s Coup de Main has a great new interview with Taylor Lautner about Abduction and the things his character deals with in the film.
CDM: Why do you think teenagers are so judgmental in high school?
TAYLOR: I don’t know if anyone will ever be able to answer that question… It’s tough and it’s kind of a stage that everybody has to deal with and you’ve just got to stay true to yourself.CDM: In ‘Abduction’, Nathan is on a quest to ‘find himself’… Do you personally feel like you’ve found yourself? Or do you feel that you have more soul-searching and growing up to do?
TAYLOR: I hope so, I think there is always growing up and learning to do, I believe that you can never stop learning. I know that I’m doing what I love to do and I’ve have had the time of my life the past few years and I know that this is what I want to be doing for sure, so I’m extremely thankful that I’m able to do it.CDM: I liked that Lily Collins’ character Karen isn’t a typical Hollywood damsel in distress – do you think it’s important for there to be more strong teenage female characters in action movies to inspire young girls?
TAYLOR: Yeah absolutely, she brings a lot to this movie, her character is very important. She’s really on this journey the entire time with Nathan and whenever Nathan crumbles or falls emotionally she’s there to pick him back up and keep him going. So Lily did a great job and I’m super excited for people to see her in the movie. Yeah, I think it is important – it makes the movie that much more intriguing and it really is a love story as well.
